Happy Birthday Mom!

So as you can see, we are a day late and a picture short!
The girls got their first cold, and well, were in no mood to be photographed.

Happy Birthday Mama,
You are so wonderful and we are so sorry that on your special day we:
puked on you
snotted on you
drooled all over your shirts
sneezed on you
pooped on you
cried all day,
and kept you from going out for sushi!
All we have to say is that we love you soooooo much and well, you asked for it!
Welcome to Birthdays in mommy-ville!

Smooches! Your snot-filled daughters,
Eme and Marlo XOXOXOXOXOXO

finally!!!

The legend of Mema is true!!!

Here we are, finally in her arms, where we belong!!

Emerson and Mema having their first hear to heart.
"you don't say, Mema I have to tell you, this Pepa fella' sounds like a terrific guy!"
"I wish he was here to snuggle me too"

"High-five Meems!" "You are tops in my book"

"I can tickle you too Auntie Custer!"

"Eme, quit being such a goof!"

"Um, can we get a minute alone pleeeease!!"

"It's my turn to bond with my Mema, and hear a little something about Pepa"

"Yeah!" " Milk and Mema- two of my favorite things."

"Wait, we're not ready"

"Mom, we said we weren't ready"
Only Auntie Custer looks good, because she knows the secret.
Always smile and look "camera ready" no matter what is going on around you!
Don't worry girls, you will have plenty of camera time to practice this skill!

"I can't contain myself"
"Auntie Custer ROCKS!!"

We are soooo happy to be family!!

Eme: "I am so sad, why are you leaving so soon!?!?!"
Marlo: "Your departure makes me grumpy!!

Please come back soon!! We miss you terribly!!!

fairy godmother

So, as new moms to two lovely girls, we were faced with the daunting task of choosing godparents.
Who will guide them through life, in the same way we would;
help them make hard life decisions, and be another unbiased pair of ears to listen,
when mom is not their first choice.
Hard as that may seem, we found them.

Now for the more difficult task- who would be their fairy godmother?
The person who will love them and laugh with them, teach them about frivolous spending, going to the spa, and wearing the latest fashions.
We chose Maree O'Sullivan!
She loves the girls so very much and that was enough for us, but just the other day I was reassured in my decision.

Who else but a fairy godmother would let a 2 year-old put on her new Chanel lipgloss...

and not get upset when she squirts half the tube out!
Perfect!

Maree we love you to pieces and we are so lucky the girls have you in their family!

playdate

Just when we thought that our social lives were over, we found some cool moms to hang with. Maree, not a mom, but a mom- and baby-lover, joined us too.

Note, I do not have a baby in hand.
This was how it was for most of the day!

Niamh and Finn were enthralled with the babies.
I think Fiona was smitten too.

Here Fiona is explaining that the only way Niamh is going to get a baby
sister is if she steals Eme.
I think they may have been hatching a plan

A foreshadowing moment!
Can't wait to meet the little one inside Meg!

"Don't worry Hads, ours won't be such a cry-baby"

Look at these gals lovin' our little gals.
Hopefully this will be the first of many play dates to come!

fancy shmancy

As promised, a look at what nice dinners look like in Mommaville!

Spur of the moment reservations at Tilth, unheard of I know!!
A table for 6... it'll never happen!
Oh yeah, you'll be surprised at what a mom desperate to dress up for nice food and wine with the company of friends can swindle.

See how happy I look to have a cocktail!
You should have seen the looks we got as we walked in with not one, but two infants!
I have no shame... just desire for a nice night out!

Oh buddy, you are soooo happy!

Yum! Truffled mushroom risotto, pork belly, and wine pairings.
WOW, it's just like old times.

This was Jerome's face when the babies started to CRY!!!
When I say cry I mean it was more like a psychotic break!
Good thing mom's quick thinking lead her to the ladies room where the girls cried it out before we returned to the table.

Here we all are, enjoying a lovely summer night out with babies, good food, and wonderful friends.
Well, I thought they were wonderful, until I saw these photos!
Seriously, why didn't anyone tell me I was looking like a hot mess?
What's with the bangs?
Elaine, you have some 'splainin' to do!!

fast forward...

...to date number two!!
We decided to try a second date with the DeMeerleer boys.
Our moms all went for a walk in West Seattle.

We would love to claim it was love at first sight...

but I think Marlo is going to need some coaxing.

Okay, lets try same stroller, separate seats.

Nope, now they are both sour!
I think Marlo is mad she did not get to show off her pretty hair, and well,
Oz is sad he has no hair!

In the other stroller, Eme and Stellan were off to a great start!
Smiles, kisses, and enamored glances...
or, maybe they were both milk-drunk.

"Bump it Stellan!" " You're allright!"
"you're cool too Eme." You can chill in my stroller any time!"

And so went another short chapter in the double-trouble twin dating book!

first date jitters

A few weeks ago the girls had their first ever date!
WHAT!?
I know, I know, they seem much too young for this, but really these boys are the best!
Not to mention their mom, who is cool too.

Because this was the first (of many?) get togethers, all babies stayed in their buggies,
mostly due to the fact that their moms were so busy hitting it off, they never took them out!

Here is sweet sweet Stellan.

And here we have the great and powerful OZ!
With cuteness like this, how can our girls resist asking for another date?

Maybe next year!

2 Months!

Where has the time gone?
Two months and many adventures under our belts.
what adventures you ask, well let us tell you...

Our trips include Costco, Target, Fred Meyer, U Village (mamas' favorite), Green Lake, Molly Moon's, Seattle Center (on our first double date, more to come on that later), and a fancy shmancy dinner out here.

Here are the stats!
Marlo 10lbs 1 oz ( 25th percentile) 21 1/2 inches long (25th percentile)
Eme 10lbs 4oz (25-50th percentile), and this is the shocker, hold on to your hats- 22 1/8 inches (50th percentile)
WHAT?
At least one of my girls will be tallish, who wudda thunk it would be the Emster!

These ladies are delish, if i do say so myself!
These 8 weeks have been a combination of learning and loving. It has been a time of personal growth and magic. A love like this cannot be measured nor can it be explained and I now understand it! I thank heaven every day for the honor of being their mom. What an amazing adventure it has been so far!
I love you two little chickens!

Eme after the two month shots!

Marlo after her shots.
Can you say role reversal?

Don't worry girls, after 21 years "shots" will have a whole new exciting meaning!
