Percocet

... dreamy saviour or villainous traitor?

After the C-section, I was given a miracle drug... Percocet. Now, I know why people can fall victim to this warm sleepy hazy prey. Mr. P. (as I call him) helped me to venture out into the world pain-free just 3 days after surgery. How can this be bad, I asked myself? We traveled to such exotic places as Fred Meyer, Target and, let us not forget the joy of University Village!
Mr. P. had me so convinced that I was FINE, and then... he was gone! This is when the pain really kicked it up a notch! I asked my doc for a refill and whether it was normal to still be needing the pills 8 days after surgery. She asked what my activity level had been, so I proudly told her!! Why not, I was doing GREAT!? Not really; she said I was grounded for a full week- no leaving the house, and no lifting more than one baby. Talk about a buzz kill!

Then the good doc told me my old friend Mr. P. was out the door; she replaced him with his less evil cousins Vicodin and Advil. Generic Advil to boot! (and we all know I am a name brand girl!) I added the Guinness myself... purely for enhanced milk production of course!

This lasted another 8 days. And here I am almost fully recovered, but for a strange new addiction, courtesy of Courtney. A BACON chocolate bar? What? Two of my faves in one! How bad can this be?

At least the gateway lead me to chocolate with BACON and not under a Seattle bridge in Belltown.
So I ask you again- Mr. P., dreamy saviour (who circuitously lead me to the chocolate of my dreams) or villainous traitor?
I will let you know!

No drugs were taken during the writing of this blog

a warm welcome indeed!

This is a small stitch in time compared to the lifetime of love these girls are in for, but what a way to begin!

The cookie welcome basket that uncles Rob and Terry gave the girls!
YUM!!

The day all started with the kindness of our nurse Marie, she will always be a favorite memory of the day! Nurses make all the difference and I'm not just saying that because I am one of them!!!
(maybe I am)

Never has there been a prouder moment in abuelita Nancita's life!

Uncle Rob
(Rob is so handsome, the lighting is just bad!)

The first of our motley crew arrived to welcome the girls!

This blurred pic is on purpose to show you life through my eyes for the first couple hours! Drugs are NICE!!!

Uncle Terry

Clarissa

Proud aunties Robin and Maree

Miranda ditched her nursing assignment at the hospital to sneak a peak at the girls!!
(just kidding Miranda is very responsible and would never leave her patients unattended!)

Uncle Mikey

Uncle Justin

Uncle Mr. Funny Hands.
Big man, little girls!

Tia Elaine came to visit "The Ladies" and the "tiny ladies"

Seattle besties!
Auntie Graeme we miss you!! Here is your shout-out!!

Abuelita says the girls look just like her!

Cheers!
We did it and it feels GREAT!!!!!

The magic of Oprah

The morning of the C-section I was watching Oprah. The episode was on the hardships of motherhood... seriously. This is what I found when I walked in the room.

Truman could not keep his eyes off of her and, well...
he has adjusted to the babies nicely. So now Oprah is an everyday part of his afternoon.
Thank you again, Oprah, for helping solve the world's problems!
HA!

... and away we went

To have our lives change forever!

One last shot before we leave!

The waiting room! Hungry, nervous, and excited!

So nice of my sis and Pops to come all the way from Chicago... must not have been too comfy with sticks in their butts! HA!

Luna on a stick came too

Relaxin' before the big event! Calm, cool, and collected!

Who let the oompa loompas in?... Oh wait, that's Andi and my mom!

My cheering section, along with my OB and surgical hero... Kelley!

Nancy waiting to see her daughter become a mom... notice our matching cheesy grins.

My love, my rock, my "buddy"

Here we are!!!
Happy, healthy, perfect, and so very very loved!
Happy birthday Eme and Marlo, welcome to your charmed life!!

37 weeks!!!!!

Hi, here we are at 37 weeks and 4 days.  We are all getting ready for the big day on FRIDAY!!
Hard to believe how fast 9 months can go when you wait two years for this experience!
2 weeks of waiting for the positive test results!
8 weeks of waiting to see the heart beat and then getting the surprise of two little hearts!
12 weeks of waiting to drop the bomb of twins on our family and friends!
14 weeks waiting to feel them kick... worth every single second of the wait!
15 weeks of puking every morning, just part of the deal... no biggie!
18 weeks to find out all their parts were fine, good heart, brain, kidneys, and yes the two of them GIRLS!
34 weeks waiting to see if I would have to have a c-section ....the answer is YES!
36 weeks of thanking people for their immense generosity! Truly feeling the overwhelming love of our family and friends.  Sleeping as much as we can.  Taking in advice from the dearest people in our lives.
37 weeks of loving every minute of my "perfect pregnancy". Having the privilege to bring two little lovies into the world and change it for the better!

Hard to believe that I have waited my whole life for this and here I stand proud with a life-changing moment just around the corner!
I knew we could do this, we just had to wait for the right babies!!

The perfect crime

...Or so they thought.  The other night we came home to a very disturbing scene!  The tough streets of Wallingford had given way to another homicide.  This time the vic was a poor innocent squirrel. We did what we had to do and called in SVU.

Poor squirrel, out for a jaunt, had no idea what fate would bring.

Cut down in the prime of its life.  What was the motive? We may never know.  The investigators came up with two very probable suspects.

When interviewed by the detectives, this one, who they call The Punisher, did not have much to say.  4 hours of grueling interrogation and all they got was a couple of grunts and some drool... the cops had donuts!

Finally the detectives moved on to the next possible culprit. This one, known as the Tiny Terror, was questioned for a mere 2 hours. They got nowhere.  I mean look at her, does this face look like the face of a brutal killer?   Please.

After a court case and much press, our little Wallingford community is finally safe. The perp is now behind bars where he belongs...

Or is she...?

the last date night!!

This is it the last date before "the girls" come!  I hear it will be at least six months before we even mention "date night".   So we did a "cheesy" night out:  Melting Pot for cheese fondue and then topping it off with a cheesy girl flick The Proposal.

Things were going great... until I could not fit my ginormous belly into the booth.

The very nice waitress brought me a chair to put at the end of the table.  So now, not only was I embarrassed, but also a fire hazzard, but at least i could eat my cheese!  YUM!!!

Andi's delish cocktail whiskey buck! How I miss my dates with Buck!

The dreaded brown monkey...AKA diet coke!  I did not even get a cherry!

Not bad...

delish!

Sweet nantes, this looks amazing!

And they even light it on fire! The element of danger makes everything better!!  We even had her light the fire twice because the first pic did not turn out.

YUMMY in our tummy!

All gone! So good, but too full for popcorn!

See you soon date night, don't forget us, we had a great run...
