How things have changed

Family Visits

Who doesn't love their in-laws; how cute are these parents?

We both come from big families. Each with their Matriarch front and center.  Imagine what a delacalle/Wiersch party would be like?

From the time we left Chicago, eager for new adventures, our families have changed and blossomed. We have been honored to share in some emotionally awesome events; weddings, births and new friendships, which have all enriched our lives.

We even decided to buy a home and get a new pooch. Life in Seattle has been so grand and who knows what the future may bring...

Blame it on the rain

When we first came to Seattle it was bright, sunny, and filled with promise!!  Who said this place was rainy and gray?
We were on our way to our new home... for a while.  The first place we lived was not exactly all we had hoped for.  We sublet a furnished apartment from a man who posed as the owner, but was not.  We only found out after the real owner showed up at our door and asked who we were and what we were doing in her house!  Great, we thought, now we are going to be homeless!!

Not quite the case we, packed up all our belongings and moved up the hill.  We landed a great HUGE apartment at the top of Queen Anne hill.  It was in a lovey refurbished high school.  From  our balcony we could see the Space Needle.  What fun!

The only down fall to being at the top of the hill was when it snowed!  Yep, it does snow here, like an inch, but believe me the whole city practically shuts down.  Can you imagine if Chicago shut down after an inch of snow?  I mean, school closings and all!!

With the snow came the holidays and holiday parties; we had friends now, but something was still missing in our lives.  I told Andi what we needed was a dog!!! She was not sold, but with perseverance and unwavering determination I won this battle.  I got a little Tallulah for Christmas!!

sunshine, wine and... traffic jams?

So here we are, in all our San Fran Glory!  The mayhem and tomfoolery continued in this sunny state.  We got to spend lots of time with family and  friends.  We cherished every moment... well, not the moments spent in traffic on the highways!  Wow, what a difference from not having a car in NYC.  Give me public transport and grocery delivery any day!!
One could say, why leave all this?  Well, we are women of adventure and challenge, so off we went to try our hand in Seattle.

How can I stop now...

So off we went to NYC.  Our dear pal Julie drove us there in a not-so-dependable car with a
U-haul attached. We decided it was imperative to take everything we owned and we almost lost it all... including our lives.  You see the two in the front seat (J&A) were messing around with gears and there we went fishtailing out of control. It is a miracle we survived, but we did, and the big city was within our reach.  I will spare you the details of the tranquilisers, tow trucks, and police involvement, as we three vowed never to speak of it again.
There in NYC love blossomed for all four of us.  Four you ask, well yes.  Julie's new boyfriend Sean came to town.  Who knew four brief years later we would all be happy, well adjusted and ready to start families.  Julie and Sean prepare to welcome a new son this September.  Can you believe it?
We had many visitors, adventures hot dogs, and pizza while we were there and loved every moment.  Remember all that extra money I made while stalking Andi?  Well, we spent it all, every penny, and it was FUN!!!!
Next stop San Fran!

The Story of "Loub"

Well, here goes, my first entry...  What joy to finally have some creative outlet.  All the others I have are so boring and so not public.

We met in a little hospital in Chicago.  I saw her across from bed 23... sigh!  She was delightful.  Was she a parent, or a nurse?  I had to find out.  I did, and then the stalking began.  I developed a strategic plan to work every time she did.  Not knowing her exact schedule bacame a problem, as I was now working all the time.  This was a blessing in disguise... oh the money I made.  Once I finally made my "move"... actually talking to her, things went GREAT!!  My friends were all happy that I finally made the big jump from my head to actuality.  I am sure they never wanted to hear another "what if Andi...?",  especially July and Amy.   I was on my way to the "Big Apple" to start my travel nurse career, this was the absolute wrong time to start a relationship unless, well, she came too.  I asked her Mimi for permission to take her away and off we went to the bright lights and big city of NY.  Now mind you, this was not all smooth sailing there was one smallish snag in our flawless plan of happily-ever- after.   Remember the movie Meet the Parents?  I was starring in my own movie called "Meet the CUSTER".  WOW, if ever you have met a bulldog looking out for its puppies, it was one Lacey Rempson.  After a barrage of questioning, scepticism, and a rocky start tempered by Deric Budderman-style comedy, we have ironed out all the kinks; Lacey and I are good friends.  If I can get past that interview I am now set for life!  Happily- ever -after continues with the blessings of all family members!!!!
